Police have arrested a Laurel County man who allegedly fired a gun after he'd been drinking, nearly hitting his neighbor.
Charles Smith, 36, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, according to a news release from Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
The incident happened Sunday evening in a neighborhood two miles west of London.
Root said police received a report that a man lying in his bed had almost been hit by a bullet that zipped through his window, missed his head by inches and lodged in a closet door.

Deputies learned that Smith, a neighbor to the man who was almost hit, had allegedly been shooting a gun, according to the news release.
When police went to talk to Smith, he had a pistol and it appeared he had been drinking alcohol.
He first refused to put down his gun, but ultimately put it down. Smith admitted he'd been shooting the 10mm pistol, Root said.
Police arrested him at 9:38 p.m.
