A man died in a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.
The motorcyclist, Mark C. Ramey, 26, of Lexington, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m., moments after he arrived in the emergency room, according to a news release from the coroner's office.
Ramey was riding a Suzuki sport bike outbound on Tates Creek Road when a Ford pickup making a left turn onto Duval Street turned into his path, police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.
The motorcycle hit the front passenger's side tire of the pickup, then caught fire, at 3:41 p.m.

An off-duty police officer rendered first aid to the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, Van Brackel said. The driver of the pickup was "shaken up" by the crash and was taken to the hospital to be checked out, he said.
