A man died in a one-car crash on Greenwich Pike, off Russell Cave Road in northern Fayette County, on Wednesday night.
County coroner Gary Ginn said the man's vehicle struck a utility pole, crossed the road and hit a fence in the 5400 block of Greenwich Pike. The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, died of major head trauma, Ginn said.
Toxicology tests will be conducted to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
The man's identity was not immediately released pending notification of his relatives.
