A two-year-old Lexington boy died as a result of complications from injuries he suffered in a fall earlier this summer at Douglass Park, according to the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
Cristiano Waide's death has been ruled an accident, the coroner's office said in a news release Monday.
The final autopsy report in the case showed that the child died "as a result of complications of pneumococcal meningitis" due to "basilar skull fractures" from the fall, the coroner's office said.
Cristiano died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital on July 23 after falling about 10 feet from some bleachers at Douglass Park on Georgetown Street.
