Bryan Station High School administrators sent a letter to parents Thursday after a female student was approached by an unknown man who tried to lure her into his vehicle.
The student was walking to school near Bryan Avenue and Arceme Avenue between 7:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. when she was followed by a Hispanic man driving a white pickup truck, according to the letter. The man called to the girl and offered a ride. She ran to a nearby Walgreens store, where an employee let her in as the truck drove off, the letter said.
According to the letter, police are investigating and patrols will be increased in the area.
Students who walk to school or to the bus stop are urged to walk in "pairs or groups, avoid darkened areas and use main streets instead of shortcuts," the letter said.

Winburn Middle School and Arlington Elementary parents also received the letter.
