An argument between two Knott County men on Wednesday morning resulted in one being treated for a gunshot wound and the other facing charges, police said.
Tim Terry, 59, of Kite, was found in the parking lot of the Big S Market in the Topmost community of Knott County with a gunshot wound to the lower left abdomen, according to state police. He was taken to McDowell Appalachian Regional Healthcare, and later to Pikeville Medical Center, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers determined that Henry Shane Thornsberry, 38, of Kite, and Terry became involved in a confrontation at the market, and Thornsberry shot Terry once before driving away. He was later found at a residence on Ky. 582 in Kite and was arrested without incident, state police said. Thornsberry was charged with one count of first-degree assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
