Two men were charged with murder Tuesday afternoon in a shooting death in Lexington.
Devin Marquell Jones, 26, and Terrico Walter Williams, 23, were charged in the Nov. 16 slaying of Walter Gray, 31, who was found lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds near Warnock and Goodloe streets. He died a few hours later at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
In 2004, Gray was convicted by a Fayette County jury of fatally shooting Andrea Tiller in June 2003. Tiller was trying to buy cocaine in a parking area at the Arbor Grove housing project. After a series of appeals, the Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney's office offered to let Gray plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a recommended 10-year sentence. Gray did so, and he was released on time served in December 2012.
Gray's slaying was the city's 16th homicide of 2014. Lexington police have solved 11 of 18 homicides this year.
