Kentucky State Police said alcohol appears to have had a role in a crash in Adair County that left one person dead and another in critical condition.
Bryan Harvey, 38, of Columbia, and Ina Copley, 40, of Russell Springs were traveling east on Ky. 206 in a 2004 Toyota sport-utility vehicle when the driver apparently lost control Wednesday, troopers said.
The vehicle ran off the shoulder of the road and over an embankment, ejecting both Harvey and Copley, according to the Columbia state police post.
Copley was pronounced dead at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, police said. Harvey was flown to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of late Wednesday night.

State police said that because both occupants of the SUV were ejected, it was unclear who was driving.
Alcohol is thought to have been a contributing factor in the crash, police said. An investigation continues.
