Lexington police charged John M. Nation on Thursday with first-degree robbery of the Central Bank branch on Richmond Road.
Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said officers arrested Nation, 25, Thursday morning at the Howard Johnson Inn on Elkhorn Road.
The Central Bank branch at 2233 Richmond Road was robbed just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses said a man walked into the lobby, approached a teller and displayed a handgun, demanding cash. After obtaining money, the robber fled in a white Toyota 4-Runner, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a toboggan, police said.
Officers later identified Nation and obtained a warrant for his arrest Wednesday evening.
