Kentucky State Police say they're conducting a death investigation after Monroe County man died from a gunshot wound on Sunday.
No foul play is suspected, according to a release from the Columbia state police post.
Police identified the victim as Cole G. Harlan, 19, of Tompkinsville.
Troopers said they received a call just before 4 p.m. CST on Sunday about a man being transported to Monoe County Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
According to police, Harlan later died while being transported by ambulance to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to police, the ambulance never reached its planned destination, stopping instead at the Macon County General Hospital in Tennessee when Harlan's condition sharply deteriorated en route. He was pronounced dead there, police said.
An autopsy will be performed in Tennessee, authorities said.
