Kentucky State Police said they're investigating a Monroe County man's death from a gunshot wound Sunday.
No foul play is suspected, according to a news release from the Columbia state police post.
Police identified the victim as Cole G. Harlan, 19, of Tompkinsville.
Troopers said they received a call just before 4 p.m. CST on Sunday about a man being taken to Monroe County Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
Police said Harlan later died while being transferred by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to police, the ambulance stopped instead at the Macon County General Hospital in Tennessee when Harlan's condition sharply deteriorated en route. He was pronounced dead there, police said.
An autopsy is to be performed in Tennessee, authorities said.
