A Crab Orchard man was arrested and charged Thursday with kidnapping, Kentucky State Police said.
James E. Cash, 34, was taken into custody shortly before 10 a.m. and was charged with the kidnapping of an adult and first-degree burglary, state police said in a release.
The initial investigation alleges that Cash went to a woman's residence on Ky. 643 in Lincoln County and forced his way inside. The victim claims that she was then assaulted and forced into his vehicle, and that Cash produced a firearm and threatened to kill her, state police said.
Cash and the victim know each other, said Trooper Robert Purdy, spokesman for the Richmond state police post. Purdy said he could not discuss the reason why police believe the woman was kidnapped.
