It happened about 9:30 p.m. Monday at a home on Docs Branch Lane in the Chavies community, according to state police at the Hazard post.
Eddie Miller, 59, died at the scene, troopers said.
No charges have been filed so far against his wife, Novalene Miller, they said.

Miller told officers that she and her husband became involved in a physical altercation, and that Eddie Miller produced a gun as it continued, according to a state police news release.
The two struggled over the gun, which discharged and fatally wounded Eddie Miller, police said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Frankfort.
The shooting remains under investigation, state police said.
