Eight people were arrested Wednesday in Laurel County after a five-month investigation into illegal drug activities, according to Kentucky State Police.
All eight were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and were being held in the Laurel County jail, according to police.
Additional arrests were expected, state police at the London post said in a news release.
East Bernstadt residents charged included: George Lewis, 47, three counts of second-degree trafficking; Edward Howard, 45, two counts of first-degree trafficking; and Donald Bowling, 55, and Shirley Wilson, 34, one count each of first-degree and second-degree trafficking.
London residents charged were: Conley Gay, 63, two counts of first-degree trafficking; Lynn Francis, 58, one count of first-degree trafficking; Ray Cornett, 65, two counts of first-degree trafficking and one count of second-degree trafficking; and Jaren Cornett, 23, one count of first-degree trafficking and two counts of second-degree trafficking.
