Police are investigating the deaths of a Laurel County man and woman after both were found Sunday with gunshot wounds inside a burning home.
Fire officials were called to the home on Slate Ridge Road in Lily, about eight miles outside of London, shortly after 10 a.m. When emergency responders arrived, they found flames coming from the attic.
Once inside, fire officials found the bodies of Donnie Jackson, 62, and Sharon Jackson, 58, believed to be husband and wife.
Both had been shot, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's office. They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County coroner's office.
Police did not say how many times the Jacksons were shot.
The fire was reported by the Jacksons' grandson.
Laurel County sheriff's investigators say they are investigating the deaths as homicides. Police say an autopsy will be performed Monday in Frankfort to determine the cause of death.
The sheriff’s office announced Monday that London-Laurel County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the slayings.
