An inmate at the maximum-security Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville was stabbed by another inmate late Tuesday, according to a release issued Wednesday by the state Department of Corrections.
Michael Brown, 22, was in the prison yard when Terry King, 36, stabbed Brown several times, according to the release.
Brown received medical attention at the prison before being transferred to Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Brown is serving five years for first-degree sexual abuse in a Meade County case, the Department of Corrections said.
King is serving a 40-year sentence for first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and other charges.
State police are investigating the attack.
