A pedestrian who was struck and severely injured on Nicholasville Road might have been trying to board a stopped Lextran bus when he was hit, police said Wednesday.
The man, whose identity wasn't released, was in critical condition Wednesday morning at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
He was struck about 9:45 p.m. by a vehicle that was traveling inbound on Nicholasville Road near the intersection with Tahoma Road, according to police.
A Lextran bus with several passengers aboard was stopped Tuesday night alongside Nicholasville Road where the accident occurred. Lexington police Lt. Chris Young said the bus was there when the man was hit.
Never miss a local story.
The man might have been attempting to board the bus when the accident occurred, but that hasn't yet been confirmed, Roberts said.
A car nearby had its windshield broken out.
There is no crosswalk at the Tahoma intersection.
An investigation into the case is continuing, Roberts said.
