A man was shot during a break-in and possible attempted kidnapping on the 500 block of North Upper Street early Saturday.
Lexington police who were called to the home at about 3 a.m. found a man with a gunshot wound to his left arm, Sgt. Jeff Hyer said.
The man told police that he, his girlfriend and her daughter were inside the home when two men forced their way in.
"They alluded to him that they would take the child," Hyer said.

Hyer said the man struggled with one of the intruders and the girl was pushed down.
After the man was shot, he was able to chase the men from the home. They fled in a blue Impala.
The man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for treatment.
