No arrests have been made so far in the stabbing death Monday of a Pike County man, police said early Tuesday.
Pike County Sheriff Rodney Scott said the body of Zachary Avina, 50, was found lying on some railroad tracks near Woodford Branch in the Phelps community just after 2 p.m. Monday.
"He had been stabbed numerous times," Scott said.
Avina lived behind the tracks, according to the sheriff.
"We don't know if it started at the house, but he ended up on the railroad tracks," Scott said.
Avina died six to eight hours before he was found, the sheriff said.
Scott said he didn't know who found Avina's body.
The site is in a rural area, but there are houses relatively close by, the sheriff said.
No weapon has been found, and no one witnessed the attack, he said.
The body was being taken to Frankfort for an autopsy Tuesday.
