A motorist who struck a pedestrian Sunday night has been charged with driving under the influence, Lexington police said.
Regina Mayes, 34, was arrested after the pedestrian was struck at Seventh Street and North Limestone about 8:50 p.m., police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
Mayes was driving east on Seventh Street and had just passed the Limestone intersection when the pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into the path of her vehicle, Roberts said.
The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Mayes was charged with DUI after an investigation that continues, Roberts said.
