A juvenile was found sitting behind the wheel of a pickup truck that contained a pipe bomb at a Shell gas station in Albany on Saturday morning, police said Tuesday.
State police said in a news release that they found a Chevrolet pickup truck with a homemade pipe bomb as a tipster described about 10:30 a.m.
The device was rendered safe by the Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Unit.
The juvenile was cited for driving under the influence.
State police detective Clint Walker said the 18-year-old owner of the truck, whom he did not identify, was charged because the juvenile was allowed to be in control of the truck.
He said state police plan to provide the information on the pipe bomb to the commonwealth's attorney, who will decide whether to present the case to a grand jury.
