A woman was charged with drunken driving after a fiery crash that injured three people Thursday night in the Tremont community in Harlan County, Kentucky State Police said.
Amber Hickey, 20, of Baxter in Harlan County, was charged after she failed to stop at an intersection and her SUV collided with a pickup truck, according to state police at the Harlan post.
Hickey was traveling Tremont Hill Road in a 1997 Ford Explorer, police said. She failed to stop at the bottom of a hill, and the SUV crossed into the northbound lane of U.S. 119, colliding with a 2014 Nissan Frontier driven by Lewis Brock, 30, of Isom.
The truck spun, came to rest facing south and burst into flames, police said.
Wallins volunteer firefighters put out the fire.
Elbony Fields, 35, of Harlan, who was in Hickey's vehicle, was taken to Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Hickey and Brock also were taken to the hospital.
State police said there was no word on their conditions Thursday night.
