A Grant County deputy returned fire and injured a man Monday night near Crittenden, authorities said.
Charges are pending against Shane D. Propes, 22, who was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police said. He was listed in stable condition, trooper David Jones said.
The deputy and a state trooper went to Indian Hills Drive after receiving a call about a suspicious man possibly carrying a gun, according to a state police news release.
The deputy made contact with Propes, who then ran and started shooting at the deputy, according to police. The deputy shot back, and at least one shot struck Propes. The deputy was not hurt, police said.
