A grand jury has charged 25-year-old Anthony Barbour in the death of a 2-year-old girl who was missing for a week before her body was found.
A Barren County grand jury on Friday indicted Barbour, of Summer Shade, on charges of murdering Laynee Wallace, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.
Police have said the toddler was the daughter of Barbour's girlfriend. The mother and daughter lived with Barbour near the border of Barren and Monroe counties.
Laynee was reported missing May 19 and was thought to be with Barbour, who also could not be located.
Police arrested Barbour at a traffic stop on May 25, and reportedly found Laynee's body soon after in a well on property Barbour owned. Police have not released the cause of her death.
In addition to the charges returned Friday, Barbour is charged with custodial interference, kidnapping of an adult, burglary, resisting arrest, and writing cold checks.
The web site of the Barren County Detention Center lists a bond of $2 million for Barbour.
