The man wanted by Lexington police for the alleged choking death of Shirley Clemons is her son, Jack "J.T." Clemons, 36, according to court documents.
On Wednesday, police issued an arrest warrant for Clemons on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and credit card fraud.
Police found the body of Shirley Clemons, 64, about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday during a welfare check in her home in the 1300 block of River Park Circle. Her family called police because they hadn't heard from her in almost two days.
Coroner Gary Ginn ruled asphyxiation as the cause of death. It was Lexington's 12th homicide of the year. There were 18 in the city in 2014.
According to court documents, Jack Clemons lived with his mother.
Clemons has a pending case in district civil court, in which plaintiff American Founders Bank claims that he owes $600.
Police have asked that anyone with knowledge of Clemons' whereabouts or information about the case call (859) 258-3600.
