A man was hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday after being shot Monday night during a fight in Breathitt County.
Witnesses told Kentucky State Police that Drury Walters and William Noble were in a verbal dispute on Marie Roberts Road in the Watts community. The dispute turned physical, and both men fell. That's when a handgun held by Noble went off, according to a news release by Kentucky State Police.
When police arrived, they found that Walters had been shot in the side. He was taken to Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson and then to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
As of 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, Walters was in serious condition, hospital spokeswoman Julie Phillips said.
Noble was arrested on a charge of first-degree assault and was taken to Three Forks Regional Jail.
Kentucky State Police are investigating.
