A Wayne County man who used a cellphone to take and send pornographic photos of a 4-year-old girl has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Brandon Lynn Jones, 31, will have to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He also must register as a sex offender and be under probation supervision for the rest of his life, according to a news release and court records.
Authorities moved quickly to arrest Jones in September 2014 after an FBI agent posing as a child abuser made contact with Jones through an internal email system on Craigslist.
Jones gave the agent instructions on how to have sex with a child and sent the agent three sexually explicit images of a little girl, according to court records.
Jones also told the agent that he planned to use the child the next day to make more pornographic images to share.
Police tracked down Jones through Craigslist and other databases. When police got to his house, they saw him throw a cellphone behind a couch after answering the door.
The images Jones had sent the agent were on the phone, according to court records.
U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove sentenced Jones on Thursday.
Jones had been jailed since his arrest. A magistrate judge had cited a concern that Jones would abuse other children if freed on bond pending trial.
