A Lawrenceburg man was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man once in the chest, police said.
Hugh Matthew “Matt” Robinson, 75, was charged early Monday and was being held in the Shelby County jail, Lawrenceburg police said.
The identity of the victim, who was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington, was not released by police.
The shooting was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday at Robinson’s home in a mobile home park off Versailles Road (U.S. 62).
According to a police report, that after a verbal altercation, Robinson produced a handgun and shot the victim once in the chest. After he was read his rights, Robinson agreed to go to the police department. Robinson admitted that he shot the victim and ‘intended on killing him,” the report says.
Lawrenceburg Detective Jeremy Cornish and Kentucky State Police Detective Trevor Harris are investigating.
