The charges against a Lexington man accused of killing and dismembering a 20-year-old woman will be reviewed by a Fayette County grand jury.
Charges against Patrick Ryan Jones, 24, were waived to the grand jury during a court hearing Monday. Jones was initially charged with murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in the death of Haley Bourgeois of Lexington.
Bourgeois’ remains were found in two dumpsters on Malabu Drive on July 21. A witness told police that Jones confessed to the killing, according to court documents.
Jones and Bourgeois had previously filed emergency protection orders against each other, according to the Fayette County Circuit Court electronic records system. Each filed the orders in September of last year and dismissed the orders the following month. Bourgeois and Jones had a child together, according to court documents.

The grand jury will determine what, if any, changes will be made to charges.
