A 7-month-old is in critical condition with severe head injuries at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, and the father cannot explain what happened, police say.
The father, Gary Nicely, 34, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at London’s St. Joseph Hospital and charged with first degree assault, first degree domestic violence, first degree wanton endangerment, second degree resisting arrest, second degree disorderly conduct and menacing, Laurel County Sheriff John Root said in a news release.
The baby’s mother found the baby unresponsive after she returned to her home on Philpot Road after taking her 7-year-old child to school Tuesday morning, Root said.
While at St. Joseph Hospital, Nicely became irate and refused to comply with orders from the police; a struggle ensued before Nicely was taken into custody, Root said.
