Lexington police charged a caregiver with stealing $28,000 from a man with dementia, according to Fayette County court records.
Dorsie Jason Pratt, 36, with listed addresses in Georgetown and Lexington, was arrested Thursday on charges of exploitation of an adult of more than $300 and theft by deception of more than $10,000, according to Fayette District Court records.
Pratt was the caregiver to an elderly man who had been diagnosed with dementia, according to court files.
Over the course of five to six months, Pratt persuaded the man to endorse checks and Pratt cashed them. “The elderly subject had no knowledge of why he was even signing the checks,” according to court records.
