Because some neighborhood streets still are covered with snow and ice, Fayette County public schools will operate on a one-hour delay Monday.
School bus pick-up times are also pushed an hour later. There are no zero hour classes — classes offered before the normal school day starts. There are no morning sessions for Early Start students. The afternoon Early Start sessions remain on a normal schedule. The time change does not affect 12-month district employees.
Dismissal times remain the same.
District officials said they announced the decision Sunday in an effort to give families more time to make arrangements. By delaying the start of school, officials said they hope to be running school buses closer to daylight and keep teen drivers out of the normal rush-hour traffic.
