Actor Dean Jones, who appeared in The Love Bug and other Disney movies of the 1960s and '70s, will be among those attending this week's dedication of Asbury University's Andrew S. Miller Center for Communication Arts in Wilmore.
The dedication ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Friday but other activities are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday.
Jones attended what was then known as Asbury College in the 1950s. He spoke at the school's 2002 graduation ceremonies and served as honorary campaign co-chair with his wife, Lory, for the $12.6 million building.
The building will serve students majoring in journalism, communications, media, and theater and cinema performance. The man for whom it is named is an Asbury alumnus, former Board of Trustees member and retired Salvation Army commissioner.
Never miss a local story.
Others scheduled to attend include D.T. Slouffman, an Emmy-winning producer; actor Jeff Rose; and photographer Jeff Hutchens, who has shot for National Geographic and Time magazine.
