Kentucky State University has been named one of the best colleges in the Southeast by The Princeton Review.
The review listed the university in Frankfort as one of 135 colleges in the "Best of the Southeast" section of its online "2012 Best Colleges: Region by Region" at PrincetonReview.com.
Robert Franck, publisher of the Princeton Review, said the best regional colleges were selected "mainly for their excellent academic programs."
The review also named 220 colleges in the Northeast, 153 in the Midwest and 121 in the West. The colleges named as regional bests include about 25 percent of the nation's 2,500 four-year colleges.
