A dozen Kentucky colleges and universities have made Forbes magazine's annual "America's Best Colleges" list. The Kentucky colleges that Forbes considers among the top 10 percent in the nation and their overall rankings among 650 are:
■ Centre College, 34th
■ Transylvania University, 94th
■ Berea College, 121st

■ Georgetown College, 300th
■ Bellarmine University, 345th
■ University of Kentucky 427th
■ Murray State University, 518th
■ University of Louisville, 579th
■ Western Kentucky University, 591st
■ Eastern Kentucky University, 640th
■ Northern Kentucky University, 644th
Forbes said its fourth annual report, compiled by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity from a variety of sources, ranks colleges based on students' satisfaction with their college experience, incurred debt, retention and graduation rates, and the success and salaries of graduates.
Transylvania University and Centre College also announced Thursday that they had been recognized by the Princeton Review's "The Best 376 Colleges" list. The review, which is not affiliated with Princeton University, also recognized Kentucky State University.
