Effective June 1, all tobacco use will be prohibited on the Eastern Kentucky University campus and all property owned, leased or controlled by EKU.
Eastern's Board of Regents approved the new policy during a meeting Monday, the university said.
The rule also prohibits tobacco use in all vehicles owned, leased or rented by EKU, and in all personal vehicles on Eastern's campus.
The new policy replaces the "smoke-free zone" plan that EKU has had in effect since 2006.

A task force of more than 30 faculty, staff and student representatives developed the new policy, Eastern officials said in a news release.
