Asbury University was ranked the No. 1 college in the South on U.S. News and World Report's annual listing, which was released this week.
"This is really a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty and staff. They are all very mission focused and the reason we're able to achieve this type of distinction," Asbury President Sandra C. Gray said.
U.S. News defines regional colleges as those granting half their degrees in liberal arts. The report ranked regional universities separately.
The private Christian school in Wilmore got top billing for its high graduation and retention rates, along with small class sizes: about 13 students for every professor.
