Henry Clay High School Principal Greg Quenon declined to comment Thursday on his request to be transferred to Winburn Middle School as curriculum and instruction coach.
Quenon told parents in an email Wednesday about the transfer:
“For personal reasons, I have asked the superintendent to grant me a transfer to a different position in our school district.”
John Nochta, who retired as Henry Clay principal in 2012, has agreed to be acting principal at Henry Clay for the second semester, Quenon said in the email.
Never miss a local story.
“Out of respect for my family, I ask that you honor my request for privacy,” Quenon said in the email.
The transfer is effective Jan. 4.
District officials also did not comment Thursday.
“We cannot comment on personnel matters,” district spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said.
In October, Quenon apologized to the school's decision-making council, saying he gave students academic credit in a freshman course without necessary council permission. The freshman course involved was abruptly disbanded
Staff members told the Herald-Leader in October that while Quenon made a mistake, they thought he had the well-being of students at heart.
