Ella "Marie" Amburgey Fletcher of Lexington, mother of former Gov. Ernie Fletcher, died Thursday.
She was 83.
Mrs. Fletcher had been an administrative officer for the U.S. Marshals Service. She was also a Baptist and a member of the Republican Woman's Club.
Mrs. Fletcher, daughter of the late W. J. and Myrtle Eliza Bates Amburgey, was born in Means.

In addition to the former governor, Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her husband, Harold Fletcher Sr. of Lexington; a daughter, Roberta Fletcher of Lexington; sons Harold Fletcher Jr. of Frankfort and Larry Fletcher of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Trautner of Lexington; and a brother, J.B. Amburgey of Jeffersonville.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Milward Funeral Home on Southland Drive. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army in Lexington.
