closeA bank robbery in Lexington on Friday morning led to a high-speed chase through parts of four Central Kentucky counties, culminating in the arrest of an Illinois man.
Lexington police identified the man as Daniel Vincent, 28, of Aurora, Ill. Vincent, who is charged with first-degree robbery, was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Vincent was arrested on foot just before noon, after crashing his Mercedes-Benz GLK 250 SUV into a guardrail on U.S. 62 about a mile southwest of Cynthiana, police said. According to officers on the scene, the man fled the wrecked vehicle and ran down an embankment into a field; he was taken into custody near a pond.

More news about police and courts Officers from Lexington, Scott and Harrison counties, the Kentucky State Police and other jurisdictions were involved in the pursuit at various times. Speeds sometimes reached about 80 mph, according to Lexington police.
The incident began at 11:27 a.m. with a robbery at Lexington's First Federal Bank, 2452 Sir Barton Way.
Lt. Douglas Pape, a spokesman for the Lexington police department, said a man entered the bank, implied that he had a gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber was described as about 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
Lexington police Lt. Fred Lisanby said investigating officers soon gathered information that the robber might be fleeing on Interstate 75. Police searching along the highway spotted the Mercedes SUV heading north, and a chase began when the driver refused to stop.
The pursuit left I-75 in Scott County, continued along U.S. 460 into the edge of Bourbon County, turned northward on Ky. 353 into Harrison County, then swung onto U.S. 62 before the SUV crashed.
The force of the crash bent the guardrail and caused the vehicle's airbag to deploy.
Police declined to say whether they recovered a gun at the arrest scene.
No serious injuries were reported either at the bank or during the chase, officers said.
