True plans to run for PVA again

Renee True, Fayette County's property valuation administrator until she retired Jan. 1 after 16 years and tapped her pension, announced Saturday that she is campaigning for her old job.

In a statement, True said she retired "with a heavy heart" because of an attractive state pension incentive. But people keep asking her to return, so she is entering the 2010 campaign, she said.

Gov. Steve Beshear this year named David O'Neill, the Fayette County Democratic Party chairman, as the new PVA.

The Executive Branch Ethics Commission last year investigated True for nepotism. But a Franklin Circuit Court judge in June ruled that the panel lacked jurisdiction. True employed her mother at the PVA office, but she has said her mother was hired when her then husband, Rene True, was PVA.
