Despite their objections, new GOP lawmakers enrolled in pension plan

Several Republicans who pledged not to take public pensions when elected to the General Assembly in November have belatedly learned that lawmakers legally cannot reject their pensions. They now hope to pass legislation allowing themselves to exit the pension system.
