Mayor Jim Gray released his first television advertisement of the general election Friday.
Walker Mattox, Gray's campaign manager, said the one-minute advertisement would air on many cable stations.
Gray faces former Lexington Police Chief Anthany Beatty in the Nov. 4 general election.
The ad, called "On the Move," does not mention Beatty. It touts Gray's experience turning around the city's finances. It says that when Gray took office, the city faced a deficit of more than $30 million.
Never miss a local story.
The first-term mayor says in the ad that when he took office, "I promised to use my business experience to turn things around."
Gray said the city now has a balanced budget and has been able to make key investments, including hiring 165 police officers and 111 firefighters.
Beatty has repeatedly criticized Gray for his record on public safety, saying that more officers are needed.
