Jackson Mayor Mike Miller is the new president of the Kentucky League of Cities' executive board, replacing Richmond Mayor Connie Lawson. KLC membership also elected Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker as first vice president, and Paducah Mayor William Paxton as second vice president.
Miller was a spokesman for the KLC amidst a controversy over spending by top officials that resulted in Executive Director Sylvia Lovely's resignation.
Since then, the board has adopted nine new policies to improve transparency and oversight, including a limited use of credit cards and new travel policies. KLC represents more than 380 cities and more than 22,000 city officials and employees.
