A 19-year-old driver has been charged with murder in the death of a Frankfort teen in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday, Franklin County authorities said.
Alyssa Hutcherson, 18, was a front-seat passenger in a Ford Expedition that went off Bridgepoint Benson Road and struck a tree, Franklin County Coroner Will Harrod said in a news release.
Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton confirmed that Austin Moore, 19, of Frankfort has been charged with murder, assault and driving under the influence. Investigators believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the accident, according to the sheriff’s Facebook page.
Hutcherson died at the scene.

The Expedition was traveling north with three occupants when the driver lost control and the SUV left the road, Harrod said. No one in the vehicle wore a seat belt. The third occupant, a 16-year-old girl, was not named
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
