A woman died Thursday morning in Lexington after a crash in Jessamine County, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
Kathy Rhinehimer, 57, died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 7:33 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
The crash occurred shorty after 6:30 a.m. at U.S. 27 and Wichita Drive, near the R.J. Corman Railroad Group building, according to Nicholasville police. The driver of a southbound car on U.S. 27 was distracted, and when she looked up, she realized the stoplight had turned red. She braked, and her vehicle began to slide, police said.
A pickup truck driven by Rhinehimer was crossing U.S. 27 from Wichita Drive to enter the Corman property. The car struck the truck’s passenger side, and the collision sent it over an embankment and into a ditch.

Rhinehimer was taken to UK Hospital, where she died. The other driver, police said.
