A Pulaski County constable was involved in an accidental shooting Friday afternoon.
Fifth District Constable Mike Wallace had two visitors at his home on John Gover Road in Bronston when a handgun discharged. Joshua E. Mullins, 25, of Somerset, was hit once in the abdomen, according to the Pulaski County sheriff’s office.
Mullins was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was still in intensive care Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
“The victim and the eye witness indicated that the handgun had discharged after being handled by Constable Wallace,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The case is being investigated as an accident, and no criminal charges are expected.
