A Kentucky State Police trooper is in critical condition after crashing his patrol car on Interstate 75 in Laurel County, according to dispatchers.
Trooper Houston E. Lewis called KSP Post 11 to report he had been involved in a single-vehicle collision around the 41-mile marker and Somerset exit, state police said in a release. West Hal Rogers Parkway is also nearby.
Troopers found Lewis trapped inside his patrol car about 150 feet over an embankment in a wooded area, police said.
Lewis was removed from his vehicle by the London/Laurel County Rescue Squad and flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital where he was in critical condition, according to KSP.

The state police collision analysis branch is in charge of the investigation.
The northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down because of the crash and re-opened at around 1:40 p.m., according to WKYT.
