NBC has signed off on a half-hour family comedy show based on the bourbon industry in Kentucky.
The show is titled “Sour Mash,” according to Deadline, and follows the story of a brilliant Latina chemist from Brooklyn who becomes the master distiller at a failing family-owned distillery in Kentucky. She finds that the most difficult part of the job is dealing with the eccentric family that hired her.
The show is written by “Blacklist” writers Michael Gagerman and Andrew Waller, Deadline reported. Vertigo Entertainment, the producer behind “It,” is also involved.
Kentucky is seldom-used as a setting for TV shows. “Justified,” which ran on FX from 2010 to 2015, is the most popular show set in the Bluegrass state (though it was mostly shot in California). Other shows set in Kentucky include “Call of the Wildman” and “Promised Land.”
Never miss a local story.
There is no word yet on when the show will air and no casting decisions have been announced.
