People throughout the state wore blue and orange Friday to support the Marshall County community recovering from a mass shooting.
Kentucky Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt asked Kentuckians to wear the Marshall County High School colors Friday, and to post photos on social media with the hashtag #MarshallStrong. The shooting at the high school by a 15-year-old gunman on Jan. 23 left two students dead and two dozen more injured, most with gunshot wounds.
“The healing and recovery process will be long, and after the spotlight on this tragedy dims, it is important that the residents of Marshall County know they are still on our minds and in our hearts,” Pruitt said in a statement Thursday. “Our state’s residents are resilient and pull together in times of trouble. I will be wearing blue and orange on Friday, and hope you will join me.”
Kentuckians have answered the call. Many photos were shared on social media Friday.
